Silver Sunday
It's Silver Sunday and I've been busy cleaning silver....again. It's all Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal's fault ;o). Be sure to visit Beth and all the other ladies who have been busy cleaning their silver. So this is what I cleaned this week.
2 silver spoons that I have no idea what they are used for. The one on the left could be used as a sauce spoon. The one on the right is from my mother-in-law and she used it when she served cranberries. Update: I just visited Susan at Savoring Time in the Kitchen. She has one of these spoons-its a bon-bon spoon. Love it.
My baby fork and spoon set. The spoon at the top is my husband's baby spoon.
Grown-up meat fork and soup spoons to match. I don't know how that happened!
My "still a young child but never used set".
A silver pencil laa dee dah, and my Huckleberry Dog spoon. We ate a lot of cereal to get these spoons. My sister got a Yogi Bear spoon. Boy those were the days when companies gave out the good stuff.
This is a sterling silver wine stopper. My husband, son and I took a trip to Sweden and Denmark. We were shopping on the Stroget (the famous walking street) when we came upon Georg Jensen Silversmith Shop. Well what's a girl to do, I had to go in. And since I collect Roosters, this one was not staying behind.
Our home base on our trip to Scandinavia was Malmo, Sweden. We walked everywhere. Everyday we passed a jewellery store where this Viking and his ship were in the window. Everyday I stopped and looked. He was calling my name. I listened.
This week's jewellery treasure is a handmade sterling silver and pearl bracelet. So much fun to make.
Thank you for visiting. Please come again.
That was funny! Yes, we are the ladies that have been cleaning their silver....and digging for it. My husband is just shaking his head! Happy SS!

ReplyDeleteI think our Bon Bon servers are identical! I have to admit, I didn't know what it was for either until I did some web browsing ;) How cute that you still have you and your husbands baby utensils! I'm Danish and would love that Viking in his boat - what a wonderful piece.
ReplyDeleteOh I don't like to clean silver, I have to say my hubby is one that does that.
ReplyDeleteWhat great treasure's you have.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Melissa
I forgot to say thank you for the offer to have my 'Made in Sweden' olive fork translated but, unfortunately, the letters are too worn for me to make them out.
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of pretty silver and how wonderful it is that you have your silverware from your childhood still....Christine
ReplyDeleteWow - fun and unusual pieces!
ReplyDeleteThat is funny we are all cleaning the silver. Since I have been blogging I've been cleaning lots of things I might have otherwise ignored. I think it's good for me to get things out and use it. I love the Viking!
ReplyDeleteLovely silver items
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! The bracelet is fabulous!

I think you've got a winner there with your Viking! Come sail away! Thanks for stopping by my silver Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI love the viking ship. That would have come home with me. However, you showed Huckleberry Hound spoon. I have one of those, now where is it? I may have to find it for next week. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Silver, I love the Viking, he would have called me also. Thanks for stopping by Happy Silver Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my corner of the world. Do you sell your jewelry around Canada? My boss brought me back handmade earrings from Canada. Your blog seems vaguely familiar -- either beause the earrings were made by you or, maybe I've visited here before. My memory is shot! You have some fun silver here. I hate to clean anything so prefer the tarnished look. HA! Have a great day :) Tammy

What great silver pieces! I especially liked the nostalgia of sending things into the cereal companies. The prizes were so much better back then! Thanks for sharing ~ Theresa
ReplyDeleteThe silver flatware is wonderful. Not very ornate and so much character. All of your silver is just lovely.
ReplyDeleteSusan
