The last of our weekly Silver Sundays. Thank you to our hostess Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal.
This week I pay homage to the 2 Mom's in my life
First, my Mom who doesn't understand my sentimental streak or where it came from. Mom received this bracelet as a 16th birthday gift from her older brother who was my godfather-which is why I received the bracelet not long ago. Sounds kinda sentimental to me.
And my mom-in-law - the quintessential farmer's wife who had all the laundry on the line by 8am Monday morning, hearty meals including homemade dessert on the table on time all the time, and whose Silver never knew what tarnish was. Poor woman just couldn't understand why her new daughter-in-law, who worked 40-45 hours a week, didn't iron her tea towels and bed linens. So why did I receive the tea service? Was I supposed to feel guilty when the tea service looks like this?
Well maybe I do a little. After 1 hour and 23 minutes of hard labour, it looks just like when she had it.
(Now maybe my ears will stop ringing ;>)
Now I am off to visit all the Silver Sunday'ers. Looking forward to seeing you all at the new Second Sunday of the month Silver Sundays.
Beautiful pieces.
ReplyDeleteThey look great all shined up!

Your silver service is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour silver tea service is just beautiful! My mother-in-law...and actually my mother were just like your mom and mother-in-law. And you know, they got a lot of enjoying and some chuckles out of what I considered a treasure! They loved me in spite of and because of my love of the tarnished and worn out! I'm sure your mom and mother-in-law felt exactly the same way about you. The blending of people with like and unlike interests to make up a family is an interesting and fun thing, huh!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Silver Sunday post!

ReplyDeleteHi Gracie
ReplyDeleteI love your silver. The silver set looks so beautiful polished. I do love silver.
I do love jewellery too. Your pieces are lovely.
I see you live around Niagara Falls. Whereabouts do you live? I drive through Niagara Falls almost every weekend during the summer...lovely areas that way.
I'm about 2 hours from the falls traffic going according to plan.
Its nice to meet you...come by again.

Hi Gracie, my Canadian friend,
ReplyDeleteYour silver tea service and bracelet are gorgeous! It is hard to keep silver at its shiny best all the time. Actually, I don't mind a little bit of tarnish once in a while because I feel it lends more character to the piece; unless of course it's jewellery and then one wants to keep it shiny and bright. Thanks for sharing your silvers and thanks for becoming a follower on my blog. I am following you as well. Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Wonderful post! Love how beautiful that tarnished silver polished up!!
