The Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara

In 1913, Queen Mary commissioned the Crown Jewelers Garrard & Co. to make the tiara based on the design of the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara that her maternal grandmother Princess Augusta of Hesse-Cassel, the Duchess of Cambridge had. The new tiara also became known as the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara.

This tiara has 19 arches and 38 pear-shaped pearls, 19 hanging as pendants and 19 sitting upright. The 19 upright pearls could be taken off and Queen Mary often wore them as pendants on her long strands of pearl necklaces.

Queen Elizabeth inherited this tiara when Queen Mary died.

Queen Elizabeth gave the Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara to
Diana, the Princess of Wales as a wedding gift.
Diana looked lovely in it, but she claimed it gave her a headache.

Wonder what Freud would say about that.

The Queen's Jubilee -The Flotilla

A flotilla (just love that word!) of 1000 boats sailed down the
River Thames in London England today.

A brilliant idea of Prince Charles, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry were on the barge the Spirit of Chartwell. It's unheard of to have Her Majesty and the next 2 in line to the throne travel together in any type of transportation.
