Pink Saturday - 5 July

This is the scene outside St. Mary's Hospital London England.
Photographers are taping out their spots to take a photo of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge's baby.
A baby that hasn't even been born yet.

I hope she has taken herself off to Wales,
 quietly had the baby
and is enjoying some private time with her newborn and her husband.
And having a giggle or two at outwitting these intrusives.

I am linking to Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound.

Where we celebrate all things ...um pink!

Margaret Thatcher

died Monday at the age of age of 87.

She was Britain’s first female prime minister 1979 -1990.

Margaret Thatcher's bluntness, strong character, sharpness and sternness were reflected in the words that helped earn her the nickname the Iron Lady.

Some of my favourite Margaret Thatcher quotes:

"If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman."  1965 speech

"Pennies don’t fall from heaven — they have to be earned here on Earth."  November 1979 at a banquet

"To those waiting with bated breath for that favourite media catchphrase, the U-turn, I have only one thing to say: You turn if you want to. The lady’s not for turning."  October 1980, Conservative Party conference

"My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay, live within your means, put by a nest egg for a rainy day, pay your bills on time, support the police."  September 1981 interview

"Defeat? I do not recognize the meaning of the word."  April 1982, start of the Falklands War

"I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end."  April 4, 1989, in the Observer

Ahhh! (get the kleenex)

photo: Hannah Stonehouse Hudson

John Unger and his dog Schoep in Lake Superior.

Schoep is 19 years old and suffers from arthritis and his advanced condition has made it difficult for the aging canine to get any rest.

To ease his pain and help him relax, Unger started taking his best buddy out into the warm water. The gentle rocking motion acts as a sort of therapy and allows Schoep to grab some much-needed shuteye.

True patriot love in all thy sons command.

O Canada! Terre de nos aieux
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brilliants exploix.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
