Read a Good Book Lately?

Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book.
~Author Unknown

If you are someone close to me, then you know I LOOOOOVE to read. I discovered, at a very young age, you could loose yourself in a book. You could block out all the nonsense going on around you, travel far away from your own life and have a great adventure. From the very first I was a fast reader. I remember in grade one having to read those Dick and Jane books. See Spot. See Spot run. Very boring. We had to read out loud in class. It was agonizing listening to my class mates stumble over the words. I would be 10 pages ahead and then have to scramble like crazy when the teacher called my name to read!

Many a night's supper has been made with me standing at the stove, one eye on the potatoes and the other in a book! (Guess who has to wash a burner almost every night?)

You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend. ~Paul Sweeney

Why am I telling you this? I have started a book review page and the first review is now up. If you have read the same books, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

  2. Book reviews - YAY!
I just finished three graphic novels (two Agatha Christie mysteries and one autobiography of a manga artist); reading NurtureShock now, which is worth a read.

  3. I think this is a GREAT idea! I must confess, I used to be an avid reader but not any longer. My reading these days consists of magazines and now blogs. Occasionally, when I start reading a novel, I like you, get totally caught up in it ~ sometimes trying to read the pages while stopped at traffic lights in the car. (Yikes)
